Each plate with the title printed below the border. 95 line illustrations throughout, some full page. Previous owners neat name on front blank endpaper otherwise a fine copy in original burgundy cloth with gilt illustrations and lettering to front board and spine. Front board with quadruple ruled black borders, spine ruled in gilt. In the scarce original publshers dustwrapper with colour illustration mounted onto the front panel, below black lettering and four line border. Flaps and other panels lettered in black. Original printed price (15/-) on spine has been blacked out neatly. Aside from a couple of tiny chips to the wrapper this is a beautiful fine example of this well produced edition. Scarce in this condition.:

Published at The Hampshire House Workshops, Hampshire Hog Lane, Hammersmith, London. 1915. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.5 x 5.2 inches). Illustrated with 12 wood engravings. One of 1500 copies. Inscribed by Gill on the front free endpaper "Eric Gill for H. Davis, 22.3.28" A very good copy in original grey canvas spine, lettered in black, with red paper covered boards with black lettering and illustration to the front board. Some loss to the paper on the boards, affecting 7 letters of the address at the bottom. Spine with just a little darkening. Overall a very good copy. Uncommon inscribed by Gill. --Evan Gill. Drake in The Jungle Book, just Kipling in the second Jungle book. Fine, clean copies. Fine leather bindings, by Bumpus, of mid twentieth century half dark red morocco. Spines with five raised bands, compartments ruled in blind and lettered in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Top edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Just a hint of darkening to the spines of both bindings but overall this is a near fine, lovely set of these classic books.

Finely bound in a contemporary full dark green morocco binding by Ramage of London. Spine with five raised bands, ruled in gilt. The compartments with gilt ruled lines, flower and star designs and lettering. Decorative flower and leaf designs to both boards, within a wavy line border which is surrounded by multiple stars, within a ruled line border, all in gilt. Elaborate gilt tooled stars, flowers and decorative roll borders to the inner boards with off-white moire silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owners neat inscription, dated 1914, to the front blank free endpaper. Spine faded to an attractive tan colour and the front board to a lighter green but still a beautiful fine binding from the library of W. A. Beautifully illustrated with 9 colour plates by Alastair. Finely bound, by Bumpus, in contemporary half plum calf. Spine with 5 raised bands. Compartments double ruled, fully decorated and lettered in gilt. Salmon pink cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Light spotting to the blank endpapers otherwise a lovely bright copy in a fine early twentieth century leather binding with just a small are of abrasion to the top raised band on the spine. This edition contains a bibliography of the various editions of Salome published prior to this one.

Compartments with ruled and dot lines and decorated with gilt bell and floral devices. Red title label, dotted and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt. Original decorative bell endpapers bound in. A lovely copy of one of the most popular books of poetry published in the twentieth century.

Edward Moxon & Co. London. 1866. TWELFTH EDITION. 8vo. (6.8 x 4.2 inches). Finely bound contemporary full dark green morocco binding. Decorative flower and leaf design to the top and bottom of both boards and a single gilt ruled border to the centre. Board edges with gilt ruling. Spine with five raised bands. The compartments with gilt ruled lines, flower and leaf designs and lettering. Triple gilt ruled lines to the turn-ins. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owners neat inscription, dated 1867, to the half title page. A lovely copy in a beautiful Victorian decorative leather binding. The binding is unsigned but the work of a skilled bookbinder.

Constable & Co. Ltd. London. 1917. REPRINT OF 1916 CHEAP EDITION. (Originally published in larger format and with more plates in 1912). Large 8vo. (8.5 x 7 inches). Beautifully illustrated with colour frontis, protected by a printed tissue guard, and 6 full colour tipped in plates, plus 98 line drawings and decorative borders throughout. Finely bound in early half red morocco leather binding by Bayntun (Riviere) of Bath. Spine with five raised bands, the compartments ruled in blind and lettered and decorated in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. There is a mild stain to the leather at the bottom of the book but overall this is a very attractive copy of this finely illustrated book.

George Bell & Sons. London. 1901. Reprint of the Second edition, revised and with new illustrations, originally published in 1898. 8vo. (7.9 x 5.3 inches). Fully illustrated throughout with dozens of full page and smaller illustrations in line. Attractive early leather binding by Riviere and Son for Henry Young and Sons of Liverpool. Full dark red morocco. Spine with raised bands, each decorated in gilt using heart and cross tools. Compartments with elaborate floral gilt design. Gilt double ruled borders with floral corner pieces and intermittent dots, all in gilt, to the inner boards. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Some light foxing to a few pages but generally very good throughout. A split to the front outer hinge of the binding, the board still holding firm, but still overall a near very good copy in a beautiful early 20th century binding.
