(iv), 389, (1); (iv), 351, (1) pp. Fine contemporary brown full crushed morocco for Hatchards, spines with raised bands, gilt lettered direct to two panels and dated at the feet, gilt tooled borders to the other compartments, gilt rules and cornerpieces to the boards and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Verso of the front free endpaper of volume I inscribed to the Countess of Westmoreland (Sybil Mary Fane) by Humphreys for "Xmas 1898". Neat repairs to the joints, an attractive set. Arthur Lee Humphreys was the manager at Hatchards as well as a publisher and was a well known figure in literary and social circles at the time.
