Red coloured boards with black coloured titles to the backstrip. Plain text dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. "This is a true story of native American violence in the southern part of the State of Illinois, known as Williamson County. For various reasons this particular area produced, over nearly a century, the most extraordinary displays of violence and disorder, which brought upon it. Nationwide notoriety. Family vendettas, labour disputes including wholesale massacre, the Ku Klux Klan War, and gangster murders which libelled Chicago's followed each other in swift succession." – From the front fold over panel blurb. Softening to the backstrip edges and the top backstrip edge has become somewhat faded, commensurate with the loss of dustwrapper. Shelfwear to the book edges and the textblock edges are brown, as is the internal text. Shipping to the dustwrapper corners and top acts trip edge. Fading to the backstrip and the rear dustwrapper panel shows browning, handling marks and foxing. There is a small "V" piece missing from the lower left-hand corner of the front dustwrapper panel.
