First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Written by Rose Tremain, an English novelist and short story writer. This particular novel was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1989, and was the Sunday Express Book of the Year. A compelling historical novel, set during the reign of King Charles II of England. This novel narrates the story of a medical student, Merivel, who gains favour at court when he heals a pet dog of the king. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely, with very light bumping and minor shelf wear. Dust wrapper is excellent, with light edge wear and one small tear, with tape reinforcing to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fine
Synopsis
Rose Tremain’s novels have won many prizes. Her most recent novels are The Road Home and The Colour (shortlisted for the Orange Prize). T he Darkness of Wallis Simpson was shortlisted for both the First National Short Story Award and the Frank O’Connor Award. Restoration was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, and was made into a film.
