About This Item

New York: Arcadia House. Fair in Fair dj. 1935. First Edition. Hardcover. NOISBN . [ex-rental library book with moderate wear, a few small dents in edges of covers, front hinge weakened by removal of ffep, one-time owner's name at top of synopsis page, "Withdrawal" stamp on page 1 of text; jacket is NOT the original jacket, but a tricked-up version containing the imprint of University Libraries, Inc., Cambridge, Massachusetts (see notes); the jacket is also backed with heavy brown paper, and firmly attached to the book at the rear pastedown]. Romance novel about the love between the "only son of a successful Jewish merchant [and] the only daughter of a lovable, but extremely bigoted German father," and their uphill battle against "the anachronistic stupidity of racial and religious prejudice." Set in a small town in Colorado. NOTE (again) that this is NOT the book's original jacket, but a specially-prepared version for University Libraries, Inc. -- "The Largest Branch Library in United States" -- with the entire rear panel given over to exhortations about the quality of their books and service. .
