New-York: Leavitt & Co., 1849. First edition. Good. 20 cm; 268; 12 pages, and folded map illustrating the battle of Long Island of 27 August 1776. Bound in at end: title page, table of contents, preface and index only of the author's "Documents and letters intended to illustrate the revolutionary incidents of Queens County" (1846). In brown ribbed cloth stamped in blind, titled in gilt on spine. Corners rubbed, head and tail abraded with loss, abrasions along lower joint, yet intact and entire. Light marginal dampstains to first 16 leaves, text lightly toned. Front blank shows foxing, along with "Documents and Letters" leaves bound in at end. Early gift inscription on front blank. Howes O-91.
