The work describes the history and culture of the river, with numerous illustrations depicting the lives of those who live and work along the Rhine, the environment and surrounding towns and the river itself, from its original source in the Swiss Alps to the sea. In the publisher's original decorative cloth. Externally very smart with marks to the rear board, bumping to the extremities, closed tears to the head of the joints and very small closed tears to the head and tail of the spine and slight rubbing to the joints and extremities. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown with binder's label to the rear. Hinges starting with the odd spot to the endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound with strain between pp. 132 and 133. Pages bright with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear. Old ink inscription to the half title dated 1879. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
