London: Printed for H.D. Symonds, 1792. Two parts in one volume. 8vo. iv, 78, vii, (i), (9)-90, (4) pp. Frontispiece portrait published by J. Ridgway and dated 1791, damp stain to the lower half of the first few leaves, top edges occasionally cut close with loss to the headline and page numbers. Modern marbled boards, paper label. Gimbel (part 1) pp 91-2, the press figures not agreeing with any of his variants; (part 2) pp. 106-8 - the second printing thus.

Synopsis

Rights of Man (1791), by Thomas Paine, posits that popular political revolution is permissible when a government does not safeguard its people, their natural rights, and their national interests. It defends the French Revolution against Edmund Burke's attack in Reflections on the Revolution in France (1790).
