Deane Cate. Red coloured boards with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A book from the early 1950s for young adults, in ripping style. Young Rip Foster has just graduated and commissioned in the Planeteer corps (space going Marine) his tasked with retrieving an asteroid made of pure thorium from the asteroid belt, back to work to use as energy. But, agents from other countries also seek to control the asteroid ... Softening of the back strip edges with baiting and staining to the back strip itself. Bumping of the book corners with the underlying board visible. There is a bow in the front panel and the boards shows stains and marks. Age toning of the text block edges and panels with scattered fine foxing to the text block edges and throughout stop there has been a little bleaching of the cover colour to the end pages and there is offset tanning to the selfsame end pages.
