London: William Pickering, 1832. Book. Illus. by 58 fine Bewich woodcuts made for this 2 volume set, mostly by John Bewick. Very Good. Hardcover. 2nd Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. "Extant Relative to That Celebrated Outlaw, to which are prefixed Historical Anecdotes of His Life". Fine inside, with no foxing or browning. Printed by Whittingham on laid paper, the Bewick illustrations are superior to the first edition of 1795. Volume two has been professionally rebacked. Both volumes are protected by clear, mylar dustjackets. Pages viii,cxxxc, 148 abd vikyne twi vi, 261. Ritson aspired to be an antiquary and collected old English ballads. The DNB lists this as his most important achievement. Publicationa was long delayed by his lack of funds. The tail piece woodcuts vary from the first edition. Both Thomas and John Bewick contributed.
