Rachel Carson explores the north shore of Cape Cod and describes the many life forms to be seen there. Her words are accompanied by 50 photographs (25 of which are in color) by Charles Pratt, and with line drawings by Bob Hines. This work first appeared as a chapter entitled "The Rocky Shores" in Carson's "The Edge of the Sea" (1955). --- In blue and black marbled paper-covered boards backed in black cloth; gilt spine titling. Jacket with Pratt photo of what appears to be weathered driftwood to front panel. --- An excellent copy: clean, unmarked and tightly-bound. Unclipped dust jacket with a strip of mild sunning along top edge and with minor chafing to extremities, otherwise remaining intact and bright; wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; Small Quarto - 9 to 11 in. tall; x, 118 pages .
