About This Item
Leipzig: Bernhard Tauchnitz, 1858. The works of Irish author Charles Lever (1806-1872) rivaled Dickens and Thackeray for popularity in the 19th Century. Dublin-born, and educated in medicine, he wrote many light-hearted, rather picaresque novels. "Roand Cashel" is partially based upon his experience as a surgeon on an immigrant ship to Canada. "Roland cashel" was first published in 1850; these are Very Good copies of the Copyright Edition, from eight years later. Three small volumes, bound in maroon cloth; titling in gilt on the spine. Clean text; but lightly spotted throughout, not affecting readability. 338 pages, 319 pages, and 331 pages. Spines have faded to a nice tan colour. Two volumes have torn labels of unknown purpose on the lower spine. A solid set.. Firts Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
