Inscribed first printing of this stylish volume on the life and work of the prolific Hamptons architect, lauded for his Modernist designs and use of natural materials. Norman Jaffe's striking architecture speaks for itself, but his personal life is shrouded in an air of darkness and mystery: he disappeared swimming one morning in 1993, leaving behind a "lingering sense of unfinished business" (introduction). This is the first monograph on his productive career. 11'' x 9''. Original black cloth boards. Original unclipped (no price) color pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated in color and black and white. 240 pages. Inscribed by Gordon to half-title page, "To André with / best regards, / Alastair Gordon / 3/25/08." Jacket with a hint of sunning to spine, tiny closed tear to upper corner of front flap. Sharp.
