About This Item
Octavo (9 x 4 inches) Pacific Greyhound Lines, circa 1930s. Original brochure folded five times to form six panels printed and illustrated on both sides; when fully opened it unfolds again, 1/3 from the bottom, to form a 17 1/2 x 24 inch poster-style display of halftone photos, description of the "... historical pageant of the West .... " and an argument for low fares.
Along the left side is a representational outline of the West Coast and part of the Southwest, extending to El Paso and Salt Lake City. The route, shown in red, is highlighted with small black and white sketches of sights along the way. There are also halftone black and white photo vignettes of Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, the Santa Barbara mission, and two examples of the "streamlined" Greyhound buses, one of which offered sleeping accommodations for 25 people.
"To really see the West - go by Greyhound."
