London: George Routledge,. Hardback. 190pp+publihser's catalogue for educational books and books for younger readers. Educational tales. Prettily bound in cream cloth with heavily decorated front boards with two colour illustrated paste-downs of children's faces integrated into a design in black with leaves in a design for a central panel and then decorative boarders. Printed gilt labels for titles. Decorations and gilt continue onto the spine. Publisher's monograph to back in black. Colour frontis and colour illustration to title page, both very pretty. Cream cloth is a little marked to the back and there is some faint spotting to front. Paste-downs are still bright but one has some slight surface loss to its lower edge and a few marks to the edges. School prize label dated 1881. Internal hinges are splitting but the binding remains sound. Good+, sound copy . Hardback. 1856.
