London; T. Fisher Unwin Ltd, 1923., 1923. Hard Cover. FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 317, [1]. Bound in deep green cloth with gilt titles to upper board and sage titles to spine. With the original cream pictorial dustjacket. Bold contemporary ownership inscription in ink to front free endpaper, which appears to read Gladys Waterbury, 12a Curzon Street, 1923. Toning to endapers, scattered foxing, especially to text block edge. Dust-jacket a touch soiled with small closed tears, creases and nicks to edges and very minor loss to spine-tips. A very good book in a good dust-jacket. Conrad's final finished novel with the Conradian themes of espionage, sacrifice and redemption: a nuanced critique of empire.
