This copy of Royal Baker and Pastry Cook, published in 1902, seems to have been distributed at purchase by the grocer. It has a stamp on the back reading Lydecker Bros. Co. Dealers in Staple and Fancy Groceries, Nyack-on-the-Hudson. The contents of the book include recipes organized with a large index at the front, and advertisements for Royal Baking Powder. One of these advertisement pages is filled with endorsements from scientists and doctors and Expert Cooks, including Presidents Arthur and Clevelands White House Executive Chef, A. Fortin. This page, as well as the others, directly address the brands competitors by attacking their prices as well as their use of phosphates. 1 cm tears on three of the cover's corners. Some foxing throughout.
