Alex Hogg, London, 1788. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. This is Volume II only. Contemporary full leather binding with banded spine. Leather is well rubbed, corners are significantly scuffed, wear at spine ends, front cover is detached, rear cover is partially detached and has some loss of leather. Front end-paper is detached, and rear end-paper is almost detached, other wise internal binding is sound. End-papers have areas of darkening, other pages are clean except for occasional light smudges on leading edges, plates are crisp and bright. Early pages have vertical crease. The volume contains 54 plates and there is evidence that two additional plates have been removed. Pages of this volume are 655-1254. Significant content and plates include Fencing, Heraldry, Electricity, Fortification, Gunnery, Hydraulics including diving bell and other early equipment, Natural History.
