Very Good Condition/Very Good. map of Peru, introduction by author, chronological tables, notes on the plates, bibliography and index. Black coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with the aforementioned map at the beginning of the text and 287 photogravure plates and seven line drawings. Light blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed publisher's logo to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Black-and-white photographic dustwrapper, with French flaps, with white coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. A look at Peru's cultures 'as the archaeologist sees them'. The author conducted 4 major archaeological expeditions, between 1931 through to 1954 at Pacatnamu, Tecapa, Jatanca, Quisque, Sechin, Cerro Blanco, Cuzco, Ollantaytambo & Machu Picchu, and this book is the synthesis of these expeditions. Along with the aforementioned Inca civilisation, the civilisations predating the Inca's are also detailed – including: – the Chimu & Mochica civilisations. Minor rubbing of the lower book edges and to the top book corners. A little age toning of the text block edges and pages. Gift inscription to the complete half title page, dated 1970 Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with sunning to the back strip and rear panel.
