About This Item

London: Macmillan and Co, 1897 Reprint. HB. White vellum boards, lettered in gilt to spine, with gilt border lines to spine and front cover. 112pp, 24 x 14 cm. The first 27 pages are a life of Omar Khayyam, presumably by the editor of this edition, who is not named; the translation appears to be that first used in Macmillan's 1889 edition; this volume also prints after it the first English translation of 1859 which was by Fitzgerald; both are followed by editor's notes, and variations noted. A nicely printed edition on laid paper with hand-cut page edges. A Very Good copy. The pages are clean and well-bound with browned endpapers from offsetting by the boards; the covers have general greying from handling and age-toning, though the gilt is bright. Photos available.
