This is a limited edition, number 693 of 700, signed by the author and illustrator on the back of the half-title page. The true story of what happened to drive the Kipling's out of Vermont so many years ago. This book was designed by Vrest Orton, a familiar name to New Englanders. Original slipcase not present.

Hardcover with dust jacket.  Red boards lightly soiled and shelfworn with gilt on spine dulled and page edges soiled.  Internally clean with an Author inscription to the 1st free end-page, but otherwise free of previous owners marks or signatures. The binding is tight with hinges intact.  The dust jacket is still in one piece, with price intact, but soiled and shelfworn, with wear along edges and folds.

Limited Edition. hardback, octavo, oatmeal woven cloth a little darkened to spine, dust wrapper not called for lettered gilt on brown within a framed roundel to upper board and housed in a brown paper covered slipcase which has a repaired split to one side. A very good tightly bound copy with a clean and unmarked text, issued in an edition limited to 700 copies of which this is numbered 527. Signed by both author and illustrator on limitation page.A loosely inserted customs label indicates this was the copy sent to Mr Frank Maggs of Maggs & Co, Berkeley Square.
