From the ads appearing at the rear dust jacket flap and rear panel, I would estimate this printing from circa 1949. Slight spine lean. Minor wear to the spine ends and lower corners. There are several very tiny white flecks to the dark color of both endpapers, along the upper edges. There may have at one time been some tape from an old mylar protector that partially stuck. There is a vertical crease, near the spine, that affects about half the pages. It is otherwise quite tight and without names or markings. The dust jacket has some minimal fading at the spine, a 3/8" chip to the lower spine end. There is a 1/2" tear with an associated crease to the upper, rear and another closed tear at the upper, front. The price is clipped at the upper, front flap with a price of $2.50 stamped just below the clip. Some even, light soiling to the rear panel. All of these Harper & Brothers printings of Runaway Bunny are scarce, especially in dust jacket. ; Oblong Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall .

Synopsis

The Runaway Bunny is a 1942 picture book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. The plot deals with a small rabbit, who wants to run away. His mother, however, tells him that "if you run away, I will run after you". The book has been in print continuously since 1942. This book is the first in Brown and Hurd's "classic series," which also includes Goodnight Moon and My World.
