About This Item
Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1956. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Inscribed by Kennan on the front endpaper, with two photographs of Kennan with Colin Powell circa 2004. Very Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($7.50), generally rubbed, some creases and small tears. Grey buckram, bumped at the edges and corners, with black and white ink panels on the spine with gilt lettering. Square, front over-opened, firmly bound otherwise, contemporary ownership inscription inside the front board. Kennan's Pulitzer- and National Book Award-winning work on American-Russian relations during the Bolshevik Revolution. This would be followed by the second volume, The Decision to Intervene. The photographs of then-Secretary of State Colin Powell and Kennan were seemingly taken after Powell gave the keynote address at Kennan's Centennial Conference on Friday, February 20th, 2004.
