For 12 yrs Chamberlin was the Russian correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor and describes the Soviet policy as . the intensified industrialism, the employment on a huge scale of forced labor under inhuman conditions, the cruel persecution of religion, and the desperate famine of 1932-33. Chamberlin says it was not his intention to focus on the negative aspects of the Soviet regime or minimize the genuine constructive achievements of the Iron Age but to present an uninhibited handling of the facts of his interpretation of them. Red binding, gilt lettering. Fading at edges, edge wear, top of spine splitting. Ft DJ flap glued to ft endpaper. .
