A fascinating collection of poems, with text in English accompanied by Latin or Greek translations to recto. Written by 'three viri floribus legendis', namely I.E. Benjamin, H. Kennedy, and James Riddell, scholars of classical studies.With engraved capitals. Featuring the half title, bound without the lithographic frontispiece. Latin prize inscription to recto front blank page 'C. P. Goodden alumno Harroviensi litteris Latinis et Graecis insigni praemium adiudicaverent' dated 1895. With Cecil Phelips Goodden bookplate to front pastedown. In a full diced calf binding with intricate gilt tooling to spine and extremities, gilt to edges, new endpapers. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, spine lightly rubbed and faded. Cecil Phelips Goodden bookplate to front pastedown. Latin prize inscription to recto front blank page dated 1895. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Bound without lithographic frontispiece. Very Good
