Burlington: David Allinson. Volume I, Parts I, II and III. 507 pages. Very strongly rubbed leather covers, corners bumped, hinges split, top inch of spine missing. Multiple owner names in old pens, pages browned and foxed and worn, bug damage to several pages - one page half gone. Front cover held on by one string, back cover and rear free end paper detached. Title continued - "With Respect to Order of Time and Place With Observations Tending to Illustrate Some Passages Therein." Ellwood was converted to Quakerism by the teaching of Edward Burrough in 1659. As a friend of John Milton, he suggested the writing of "Paradise Regained." He traveled with George Fox through the west of England and endeavored to protect the Quakers against the Conventicle Act. other printings - Smith I:567 . Fair. Full Leather. 1st American. 1804.
