About This Item

New York, NY: H. Schuman. Very Good+. 1952. Trade Edition. Hardcover. This book is in Very Good+ condition and is lacking the dust jacket. The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. There is some beginning rubbing and bumping to the spine ends and corners of the book covers. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown page, and a portion of the rear dust jacket adhered to the front endpaper - with a description of the author and his biography. "Wheeler published a number of books and short pieces over his lifetime, including works of poetry and humor, as well as collections of Russian, Albanian, and Hawaiian folklore. He also collected a number of Japanese rakugo tales to be published in a ten-volume work entitled Ho-Dan-Zo (Treasure-Tale Storehouse) , but the work was never published due to the United States' entry into World War II. The manuscript now resides in the New York Public Library. He and his wife wrote Dome of Many-Coloured Glass in 1952 about their experiences serving in the United States Foreign Service.
