Bound in original decorated boards with brown cloth spine lettered in red. About Very Good with rubbing to the fragile boards, light foxing to endpapers, but spine lettering strong. In a Fair example of the unprinted wrapper, chipped and shrunken. Lacking ad slip. One of the most uncommon Steinbeck items, offered by his publishers as a Christmas gift.
