A collection of plays from Oscar Wilde, an Irish poet and playwright renowned for his work in the early 1890s. The plays included are: Salome Depicting the seduction of Jokanaan (John the Baptist) by Salome, the step-daughter of Herod Antipas and her dance of the seven veils. La Sainte Courtisane An unfinished play left in a taxi cab by the author and never completed. First published by Wilde's literary executor in 1908. A Florentine Tragedy A fragment of a never completed play concerning Simone, a wealthy 16th century Florentine merchant who finds his wife in the arms of a local prince. In the original full reverse calf. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and minor loss to the head of the spine. Fading to the spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Age toning to the endpapers. A small section of the front endpaper has been cut out. Very Good
