About This Item
New York: Vantage Press, 1953. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good/Near Fine. 8vo., 189pp. Beautiful First Edition. Square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear. A few spots on the bottom page edges. Very attractive unclipped, ($3.50), wrapper has a touch of wear to the tips and a couple of short, barely noticeable closed tears. Very light soiling to rear panel but still fresh and bright with no chipping, creases or tears. The book is a "...violent tale of the intermixing of love and racial hatreds along the Mexican border. Fairly tame by today's standards, it was one of many books published by the author, (Aday only published two of his own written works), that saw him the regular target of community standard groups and the law. He was notorious for being an early author and publisher who was tried, convicted and sentenced to jail time for obscenity though later overturned by the Supreme Court. A gorgeous collectable copy of a very scarce book in any condition, with Worldcat locating only two institutional copies and no copies currently in the market.
