Hutchinson of London, London, 1961. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic and Illustrations. A Message from the Founder – Leonard Russell, introduction by editor. Dark rose coloured endpapers in which the dates 1941 and 1961 have been placed on either end paper. The text is illustrated with photographs, black-and-white photographs and various black-and-white and occasional colour illustration. Brick red coloured cloth covered boards with black insert to the front panel and within that insert gilt coloured titles, which has also occurred to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The 21st edition of The Saturday Book, filled with curios, comments, poetry, articles, fashions etc., in fact, a book to dip in on a lazy Saturday afternoon. The book is certainly a trip in the way back machine, showing how all life was lived back in the day. Softening and some sunning to the backstrip, commensurate with loss of dustwrapper, with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. There is a small nick to be front lower book edge, underlining board is visible. A little age toning of the textblock edges. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners, and backstrip edges. Various nicks, tears and chips to the dustwrapper edges with associated creasing. There is a piece missing from the top left-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel.
