Moscow: Tipografiia Lazarevykh Instituta vostochnykh iazykov, 1838. Original publisher's wrappers. Fair condition. Octavo (15 x 24 cm). 18 pages. Text in Russian and Polish. Damage to wrappers; foxing; library stamps to title and several other pages.<br /> No. 7: Order of the Polish King Sigismund III, given to the ambassadors (...), sent to Tsar Boris Feodorovich to congratulate him on his accession to the throne, 1600.<br /> <br /> Prince Mikhail Andreevich Obolensky possessed a rare talent of a scientist, researcher, and archivist. He served in the Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1833) and later worked as the head of the handwritten department of the Armory (1853), he studied archival documents, historical sources, prepared several chronicles for publication. In 1838 he published the "Collection of Prince Obolensky" - 11 issues containing acts from his personal archive. The complete set of the collection is almost impossible to find on the market, it is a bibliophile rarity. Ulyaninsky wrote that "before the collection could be bought in the Moscow main archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the price of 5 rubles. for all 12 issues, however, 15 years ago, all archived copies were sold out, and the collection fell into a rarity (...) ".<br /> <br /> Scarce; one of 150 copies.
