About This Item

Exactly like the Stated 1st Edition, Rust colored ink used on the Main Title Page, the Bobbs Merrill missing bottom of the spine, paper labels on spine(color is more toward a pink, faded, I don't know. I have 2 and both pink) and front cover(Orange colored RED) and the inside pastedowns by Margaret Ayer Barnes. But not stated to be a First Edition. Most would have this listed at least a Near Fine and a few as Fine. Look at the photos for condition.

Synopsis

Scarlet Sister Mary is a 1928 novel by Julia Peterkin. It won the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1929. It was called obscene and banned at the public library in Gaffney, South Carolina. The Gaffney Ledger newspaper, however, serially published the complete book. Dr. Richard S. Burton, the chairperson of Pulitzer's fiction-literature jury, recommended that the first prize go to the novel Victim and Victor by Dr. John B. Oliver.

I am a private collector, mainly Pulitzer Prize winners, but I inherited 1000's of hardcovers and looking to sell them off. I will be relocating in the near future, and need to lighten the load.
