N.Y.: George P. Putnam, 1848 Book. Fair to Good. Hardcover. New Edition, Complete in One Volume. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Original green cloth, blindstamped "Putnam's Choice Library" on boards. The author was editor of the Union Magazine of Literature and Art, and later, joint editor of National Magazine, Devoted to Literature, Art, and Religion. Pp. 2-41 consist of a biography of Spenser (1553-1599), while the balance consists of the First Book of the Faery Queen, which ends abruptly on page 244 as the conclusion is being discussed. Although there must be some text missing, it is assumed that it is of insufficient amount to alter the value and understanding of what is present. Cover is spotted, with minor cuts to spine. No writing, but foxing freckles abound throughout..
