New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1897. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the "Authorized Edition" of some of Huxley's essays on the collision of science and religion. Originally published in 1896; this is a Later Printing, from one year later. Marbled paper-covered boards with brown leather spine and tips; gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 419 pages; top-edge is gilt, others rough-cut. Rubbing to the margins, with some flaking of the leather. A nice one-volume introduction to Huxley, who is usually seen in multi-volume collected editions. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Later Printing.. Half-Leather. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.
