About This Item
Taipei, Taiwan: Rainbow-Bridge Book Co, 1972. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 36 illustrations, with nine tables. Reprint. The first volume in the Science and Civilisation in China, a series of monumental books initiated and edited by British biochemist and China scholar Joseph Needham (1900-1995). They deal exhaustively with the history of science and technology in China. To date there have been 27 volumes (and parts). Original burgundy cloth binding, with gilt lettering. A bit of soiling and smudging to a few pages. The bottom corners are bumped; otherwise a very good copy in a lightly worn dust jacket.
