About This Item
1694 SCOTLAND 1ed Ridpath Scots Episcopal Innocence Scottish Treason Politics
George Ridpath was a 17th-century Scottish author following the Glorious Revolution. As a prominent Whig apologist, Ridpath published many of his more controversial works under the pseudonym Will Laick, including his attacks on the Scottish episcopal party. One work from these attacks was his "Scots Episcopal Innocence" – a short pamphlet identifying the failures of the party, accusations of treason, and the disloyalty of the Scottish clergy and their disregard for the Order of the State, King William, and Queen Mary.
