About This Item
Hartford: D. F. Robinson, 1827. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good. Stated first American edition title page. 12 mo, 216p, red leather-backed printed paper covers. Some of the paper over boards is perished, what remains is heavily soiled, rear cover holding by one binding tie. Contemporary ownership label with decorative surround, typical of the period. There's a charming, primitive quality to this book's survival mostly due to the 37 woodcuts of all manner of birds, insects and sea life with accompanying Scriptural references the species - e.g Jonah and the whale. WorldCat lists only 11 libraries of this Volume II printed by Robinson in Hartford.
