In this book the author points out how sculpture has played a key part in modern ideas surrounding the visual arts, even though it is often marginalised. He focuses on a range of texts by writers who have been obsessed in some way by sculpture, including Johann Gottfried Herder, Adrian Stokes and Clement Greenberg and such artist-theorists as Donald Judd..
