Synopsis: The evening of the day that Robert Philips finished his blacksmith's apprenticeship, he told his mother and uncle he was heading to Portsmouth, to join the Navy. Everyone knew that the life of a seaman in 1805 was hard, brutal and unhealthy, but Robert's father had served in the Navy, and Robert was determined. This is the story of his first months in the service, and his part in the Battle of Trafalgar.
