Hardback, 1842, published by Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, London, xlviii + 320 pages and two 16-page publisher catalogues at rear.
Quarto/4to, measures around 8 5/8" by 6 1/8" by 1 1/4". Blue cloth binding, gilt pictorial detail to front board, gilt detail and lettering to spine. Considerable marking and scuffing to binding, discolouration in particular to spine. Clear signs of wear, rubbing at edges and on hinges, tearing to head and tail of spine, bumped and torn corners. Slackness to binding, cracking to inner hinges and a little strain to textblock elsewhere. Page edges browned, scuffed, marked and slightly tanned. Label to front pastedown, previous owner inscription to verso of front free endpaper. The odd mark to page surfaces but reasonably clean for age, with no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
