Full leather (calf) binding; five raised bands; title and volume slips; tooled on spine in gold in panels, 1, 4, 5, and 6; triple gilt fillet lines on upper and lower covers. 8vo. cviii, 128 pp.; 240 pp. Wear with slight loss at head and foot of spines, small chip at foot of front cover of Vol. II, several dark spots on fore-edge of Vol. II, small previous owner's embossed name at top of title page of Vol. I, internals very nice, Good. Includes engraved titles; frontispiece; medallion portrait after Gravelot by LeRoy; 12 plates after Gravelot by Duclos, Nee, Pasquier, Rousseau, and Simonet; and 12 headpieces after Gravelot, LeRoy, Marillier, and Queverdo by LeRoy. One of the best eighteenth-century illustrated books. Gravelot was one of the major book illustrators of the time. . Good. Hard Bound. 1766.
