The Century Company, New York, 1916. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover, no dust jacket, as issued. Olive green cloth cover with gold gilt and black graphics is lightly scuffed, some staining to BC, lightly crushed top and bottom of spine and minor bumping to the bottom tips of the boards. Front flysheet has inscription for the property of a school district handwritten. There are a couple small darkened areas on IFC and front several leaves. Pages are clean and firmly bound. Book was illustrated by John Lockwood Kipling, the father of Rudyard Kipling. This book is in very good condition.
Synopsis
The Second Jungle Book is a sequel to The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. First published in 1895, it features five stories about Mowgli and three unrelated stories, all but one set in India, most of which Kipling wrote while living in Vermont. All of the stories were previously published in magazines in 1894-5, often under different titles.
