About This Item
Kayak, San Francisco, 1968. Soft cover. Book Condition: Fine. jean Varda (illustrator). 1st Edition. Yvan Goll (1891-1950) , was French-German poet who wrote in both German and French. Goll had close ties with German expressionism and French surrealism and beautifully expressed in his poetry. Goll knew many languages; and each was a door which he could sometimes open. What he discovered he set down endlessly in poems, letters, plays and lyrical novels. Yvan Goll's works have been translated here by Robert Bly, George Hitchcock, Galway Kinnell and Paul Zweig. The book is edited by Paul Zweig. Jean Varda has illustrated the book with four very interesting full page surrealist color prints. Poems are written in French and German, introduction is written in English. Limited to 1200 copies.
