About This Item
Collection of poems in Spanish, illustrated with an abstract color plate and photographic frontispiece portrait. 8vo. Extravagantly signed by the author on the half-title page. Very good overall ; significant sun fading and wear to the spine. Illus. stiff wraps ; blue paper printed in silver ink. [1262]
A monumental collection of Zúñiga's poems from the 1920s and 1930s, La Selva Sonora is considered to be among his primary works. Though out of fashion today, he was critically lauded during the era and served as an influential professor of literature at Instituto Literario del Estado de México (now the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México.) His acolytes are said to have included Octavio Paz, José Muñoz Cota Ibáñez, Guillermo Tardiff and Adolfo López Mateos. The present work is both handsome and scarce. We can locate no copies online and only three institutional holdings in the United States.
