Concerns the construction of a dock at Villa Franca do Campo, São Miguel, a favorite project of the author, who never saw it to completion. Garcia d'Abranches (1769-1845), whom Innocêncio believed to be a native of S. Miguel, but was probably born at Ceia, district of Guarda, later became a naturalized Brazilian. He did spend several years on the Island of São Miguel in the Azores from 1830. In 1789 he had emigrated to Brazil, settling at São Luís de Maranhão. Between 1825 and 1830 he published and edited there the Censor Maranhense, defending the Emperor D. Pedro I in opposition to the newspapers of Odorico Mendes.*** Innocêncio III, 290; X, 154-5.
