Ticknor and Fields, 1863 1863. 1st Thus. Hardcover. VG+. 1st thus 12 x 20 cm publisher's original brown blind stamped cloth with T&F monogram in centre of upper and lower boards. gilt stamped titles to the spine, brown endpapers [ii] 252[2]pp including publisher's adverts for the 6 Austen novels in 4 volumes each priced at $1.50. [Gilson E28] An ex-library book this has the remains of a label on the spine, a presentation note on the front paste down indicating that the book was presented to the Warren Public Library by Mrs George D Hastings of New York City. There is also a Warren Public Library stamp dated 1876 on the first page of Sense and Sensibility. The boards have a little marking but are generally in very good condition noting only the label on the spine and a 1.5 cm split on the upper joint at the head of the spine. Internally, the book is generally very clean with only a couple of handling marks and the binding firm. A lovely copy of this difficult to find volume.
