Top edge gilt. 201 pages. Illustrated with thirty-one full page plates and a frontispiece, with tissue guard intact. First edition, first printing. Howells was an American realist novelist, a playwright and a critic who also produced many charming travelogues of which this is one. Some of the English cities surveyed herein are Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield, as well as the Welsh urban centers of Aberystwyth and Llandudno. Previous owner's name on front free end-paper. A clean, square, fresh and otherwise unmarked copy. Hinges strong and not cracked, pages supple and all illustrations present. A very nice copy. Near fine..
