About This Item

This is an early American edition of "The Seven Seas" with "Barrack Room Ballads" by RUDYARD KIPLING. 1898; D. Appleton and Company; New York. There are six pages of publisher's advertisements at the back. An old newspaper clipping of Kipling's poem "Recessional" has been affixed to a blank page at the back of the book. Gilt top page edges. The book is a collection of poems - please see the photos for the complete list.

Condition:
The cloth has faded a bit along the spine, and at the top and inner edges of the covers. Sharp cover corners. There are a few tiny stain spots near the title on the spine, and a couple tiny stain spots at the top edge of the back cover. Bright gilt top page edges. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Consistent foxing to the pages throughout the book. The front end paper has a partially erased name and July '98 written in pencil; "one of the 6 best selling books, Dec. '96, Jan'y '97" is written in pencil at the bottom of the front end paper. An old newspaper clipping of Kipling's poem "Recessional" has been affixed to the blank page facing the 1st advertisement page at the back. A couple of the advertisement pages are still attached along the outer edge. Overall the book is in Good- condition.
