The voluminous literature concerning American prisons is not only sparse when it comes to dealing with this important subject of sex, but has evaded its discussion as much as possible. Prison officials contacted by the publisher were wary and non-committal. Two communications printed here will serve to give the reader an idea of the type of fruitless replies which the publisher received in his quest for data on the subject.
